EBSCO Explora

Search across thousands of reference works, scholarly journals, and newspaper and magazine articles. It contains more than 360 reference books. EBSCO Explora has easy-to-browse categories organized by popular topic, topic overviews that provide you with a starting point for research, and reading level indicators.

World Book Encyclopedia

World Book has numerous articles on topics connected to the unit. Some of these include: cytology, cells, protoplasm, assimilation, immune system, golgi apparatus, apoptosis, interferon, ribosomes, CRISPR, cilia, protease inhibitor, and MUCH MORE! There are several articles on disease such as cancer (and specific types of cancer like leukemia, lymphoma, skin cancer, brain tumors), anemia, bacteria, and viruses like influenza. Numerous articles exist on parasites like flatworms and the tsetse fly. There are also articles on treatments for diseases like oncology, gene therapy, and antibiotics.

Encyclopedia Britannica

The Middle School section of Britannica has several useful article sections related to this project which can be found here. Check out especially the Life Processes section. That has lots of great stuff about Life Cycle, Organs and Organ Systems, and Vital Processes.You may also be interested in their Media file which has charts, diagrams, and videos connected to these topics. Those can be found here. In addition to Life Processes, check out the Living Things (Other) section. Its article section and media section cover bacteria, fungi, protists, and viruses.

BrainPOP

There is a section within BrainPOP’s Science database called Cellular Life and Genetics. Within that menu, students may wish to click on the following items: cells, cell specialization, cellular respiration, stem cells, cancer, bacteria, natural selection, in addition to a few other topics.

Proquest SIRS Discoverer

This source combines newspapers, magazines, images, books, and web resources about a variety of topics. As with many search engines, you can type in keywords to find a variety of great results. For example there are over 4,000 results for cells, 2,000 for cancer, and 500 results for aging. Please put in your search terms to find some great resources for your project.
